THE POWDER COATING PROCESS

We have a pre-treatment section, chromating section and product dryer section that is used prior to the painting process.

Duralloy by Dulux, is a high durability coating with very good scratch resistance, ideal for gates, fences and balustrade sections. E-Prime is an epoxy based powder primer formulated to give additional protection to sharp profiles/edges or complex metal shapes. It can be used as a sandable filler for small surface imperfections, to provide additional film thickness for improved corrosion protection. E-Prime can be used on all metal substrates but is especially suited to aluminium castings, hot dipped galvanised or other porous metals. Zincshield is a zinc based epoxy primer specifically formulated for powder coating applications over blasted steel. Zincshield may be used with confidence for improved corrosion resistance and durability.

Phantom Powder Coaters recommend the following processes for different types of materials to achieve maximum results: Mill Finish Aluminium must go through the pre-treatment plant (pre-chromating) before being painted. We do not recommend an Anodised finish for powder coating. Sandblasted Steel must be Zincshielded and then top coated with desired colour. Black/Blue Steel is recommended to be Sand Blasted first. It must then be Zincshielded and then top coated with desired colour Zincanneal should be E-Primed first before being top coated with desired colour. Hot Dipped Galvanised or Cold Dipped Galvanised Steel must be de-gassed first. We highly recommend it be under coated and then top coated with desired colour.
